complications. The staff at the hospital is absolutely wonderful. I wish
there were more medical staff within the states that had the awesome bedside
manner that these people have.

		I was currently taking.  The other patient was going into surgery first and since he was morbidly obese, his surgery was expected to take a couple of hours so I went to sleep.  When I woke up a couple hours later it was time for my surgery.  Mine only took 45 minutes. That evening I woke up at midnight and could not get back to sleep because I had slept all day so they gave me something to help me sleep.  The nurse checked on me all night and gave me med's in my iv as needed.  The next morning I was released from the clinic and taken to the Marriott hotel in Tijuana, with juices to start my liquid diet.  It was very nice. A couple hours later a nurse showed up to check my incisions and to change my dressings.  An hour or so later, the nutritionist came by to discuss the diet I needed to follow for the next few weeks and things I would have to change forever.  Then a driver showed up to take me shopping.  That was a lot of fun!   I spent the night in the hotel and the next morning the escort driver showed up to take me back to the San Diego airport.  The flight home was very uncomfortable because of the gas in my body.  Nothing I took was relieving it and being 30,000 feet in the air was causing more pressure.  Once I was home, I realized I could still eat quite a bit of food, so after 7 weeks I got my first fill.  They put 1.2 cc in my band.  That didn't seem to do much for me, so a week and a half later I had them add .8 cc more.  My band is half full now and my eating is really restricted.  I drink a lot of the protein shakes and waters, eats lots of meats, cheeses and vegetables.  I amy trying to stay away from breads, pastas and potatoes.   I only have 16 more pounds to lose before reaching my ideal body weight.  People that see me can't believe the new me.  Most say I look like a totally different person.  It is so wonderful hearing the compliments.  I finally have a good self-esteem.  Carolyn, thank you so much for your help and encouragement.  I love my life as a healthy person!!!   Sincerely, Joy D. From: Joy Pulliam Sent: Sunday, January 06, 2008 7:25 PM To: Carolyn Brazeau Subject: RE: Lapband Update Carolyn,   I can honestly say the lapband has changed my life.  I had my surgery on July 26, 2007 and in 5 months I have lost 70 pounds.  I feel great and look even better.   I tell everyone that notices my weight loss about my experience with My Lap Band Surgery and my great time in I had in Tijuana!  I would do it all over again a million times if necessary.  The staff at the hospital took excellent care of me and took all necessary precautions before doing anything! When I arrived at the San Diego airport I had to wait about 45 minutes before the van made it to pick me up which made me a little nervous but that was the only bad thing about the entire experience.  Once I was picked up we went to get another patient from his hotel and went straight to the lab for blood work.  That took about 10 minutes.  We then went to the cardiologist for tests which took about an hour for both of us.  From there we went back to the lab to pick up our results and it was to the clinic from there. When we arrived at the clinic, we were shown to our rooms and given gowns to put on.  The anesthesiologist came in and talked to me through a translator confirming my medical history and medications
